Volleyball Recap: Cactus Comes Up Short

Cactus lost against Deer Valley back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Cobras came up short against the Skyhawks, falling 3-0. The Cobras have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The final score came out to 25-16, 25-16, 25-12.

Deer Valley can attribute much of their success to Seath Brightwell, who had 14 digs and one assist. Brightwell is on a roll when it comes to digs, as he's now had 14 or more in each of the last four games he's played. Dutch Chidester-Mendoza also deserves some recognition as he served his first aces of the season.

Cactus' defeat dropped their record down to 9-18. As for Deer Valley, their win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 24-8.

When Cactus and Deer Valley next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. The Cobras will try to stop Thunderbird's three-game winning streak when they meet at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Deer Valley will take on Goldwater and their eight-game winning streak at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
