Sam Eldredge was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out 14 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with three doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those three doubles gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Hogan Tobias was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Forrest Downing, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.
Summit kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Battle Mountain's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They lost 13-3 to Gunnison.
Kai Tipton made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Summit's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Battle Mountain, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-2.
Summit was able to grind out a solid win over Battle Mountain in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 5-2. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Huskies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
