Softball Recap: Normal Community Ironmen vs. Urbana Tigers

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mt. Zion, Normal Community was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Urbana Tigers with a sharp 16-1 victory. That looming 16-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Normal Community yet this season.

Tessa Bittner made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). Bittner was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madison Ummel, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-4. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in the last three games she's played. Kate Oyler was another key contributor, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
