Recap: Pearl River Central Blue Devils vs. Hattiesburg Tigers
The Pearl River Central Blue Devils's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell 44-35 to Hattiesburg. While losing is never fun, Pearl River Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 170th, while Hattiesburg is ranked 14th).
Stephen McCullon Jr. continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Hattiesburg, scoring 18 points along with three steals. McCullon Jr. is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last seven games he's played. Christian Moody was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Pearl River Central has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season. As for Hattiesburg, the victory (which was their 14th in a row) raised their record to 19-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pearl River Central will take on Jim Hill at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Hattiesburg, they will be playing at home against Heidelberg at 11:30 a.m. on Monday. Heidelberg is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
