Softball Game Preview: Wheatmore Warriors vs. Providence Grove Patriots

Wheatmore hasn't had much luck against Providence Grove recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Wheatmore Warriors will take on the Providence Grove Patriots at 6:00 p.m. Wheatmore has given up an average of 9 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Wheatmore managed to slip by West Davidson the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Wheatmore came up short against West Davidson on Friday, falling 16-6.

Maddie Nichols was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Hannah Shoe, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Providence Grove beat Morehead 7-2 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Patriots.

Providence Grove now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Wheatmore, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Wheatmore suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Providence Grove when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Wheatmore avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
