Softball Recap: Glasgow/Hinsdale/Nashua Drops Season-High Score on Hardin

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Glasgow/Hinsdale/Nashua). They were the clear victors by a 17-7 margin over the Hardin Bulldogs on Saturday. With that win, the Scotties brought their scoring average up to 7.1 runs per game.

Brynn Donaldson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. That run marked the first that she scored this season.

In other batting news, Alexa Ball was a standout: she scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. That hit was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kelbi Wersal, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Glasgow/Hinsdale/Nashua hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive games.

Glasgow/Hinsdale/Nashua is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Hardin, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Glasgow/Hinsdale/Nashua didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 11-3 defeat against Laurel on the 12th. Hardin has also already played their next game (against Columbus/Absarokee/Park City), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
