Soccer Game Preview: Prospect Mountain vs. Gilford

The Prospect Mountain Timberwolves will take on the Gilford Golden Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

While Prospect Mountain's victory against Derryfield wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Timberwolves' defense stepped up to hand the Cougars a 1-0 shutout on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for Prospect Mountain in their matchups with Derryfield: they've now won six in a row.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Gilford's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They and Sanborn Regional finished up on equal footing with a 1-1 draw. The result (or lack thereof) marked Gilford's first draw of the season.

Prospect Mountain now has a winning record of 3-2. With that draw, Gilford's record moves to 3-4-1.

Prospect Mountain was able to grind out a solid victory over Gilford in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, winning 3-1. Will the Timberwolves repeat their success, or do the Golden Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
