Basketball Recap: Sandhills/Thedford Gets the Win

Sandhills/Thedford lost to Ainsworth back in February of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Sandhills/Thedford Knights came out on top against the Ainsworth Bulldogs by a score of 51-42.

Despite the loss, Ainsworth saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Gracyn Painter posted 19 points along with eight boards and three steals. That was a full 45.2% of Ainsworth's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Preselyn Goochey, who had 13 points and three steals.

Sandhills/Thedford's victory bumped their record up to 12-8. As for Ainsworth, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-13.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sandhills/Thedford will welcome Mullen on Tuesday. As for Ainsworth, they will host Stuart at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
