Baseball Recap: Appomattox County Finds Home Field Redemption Against Nelson County

There's no place like home for Appomattox County, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Nelson County Governors on Friday by a score of 5-2 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). This was a revenge game for the Raiders: when they faced off against the Governors back in April, they had to take a 2-1 loss.

Isaac Records looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Evan Carwile, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one double. Another player making a difference was Jack Wilkerson, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.

Appomattox County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for Nelson County, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.

Looking ahead, Appomattox County will square off against Chatham at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Raiders are facing the Cavaliers at the right time seeing as the Cavaliers are stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Nelson County, they will welcome Dan River at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
