Softball Recap: Ten Straight Home Wins for Glenwood

Glenwood came tearing into Saturday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.4 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Pekin Dragons. Considering the Titans have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Irie Lohrenz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Taryn Griffith was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Bobb, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Glenwood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .323 or higher in six consecutive games.

Glenwood's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Pekin, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-6.

Coincidentally, Glenwood and Pekin will both be playing Danville the next time they take the field. The Titans will head out to face the Vikings at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Dragons will play them later in the day, at 3:00 p.m.
