Baseball Recap: Lake Has No Trouble Against Scott Central

Lake won the last time they faced Scott Central and things went their way on Friday too. The Hornets put the hurt on the Rebels with a sharp 16-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Hornets, who have now won 16 matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

Wes Nester made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Nester was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

In other batting news, Lake got a massive performance out of Trey Gray, who scored four runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases Gray has posted since back in March. Aidan Dilley also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.

Lake always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Scott Central only posted an OBP of .312.

The victory made it two in a row for Lake and bumps their season record up to 19-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Scott Central, their loss dropped their record down to 4-17.

Lake wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 14-4 victory against Union on the 5th. As for Scott Central, they have also already played their next contest, a 10-6 defeat against Raleigh on the 5th.
