Softball Recap: Calera Eagles vs. McAdory Yellowjackets
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Auburn, Calera was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They skirted past the McAdory Yellowjackets 10-8. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Eagles' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Lily Townsend was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off ten hits. Townsend was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Kinley Rodgers and Isabelle Overton did most of the damage at the plate: Rodgers scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4, while Overton went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one double. That home run marked the first that Overton launched this season. Another player making a difference was Neeley Carstensen, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI.
Calera always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March.
