Basketball Recap: Wyatt Reed's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Round Valley over Madison Highland Prep

Round Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 52-49 heartbreaker at the hands of the Madison Highland Prep Heat. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Elks have suffered since January 15th.

Several Elks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Wyatt Reed, who posted 16 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Joah Brown, who had seven points and seven rebounds.

Cade Carlstrom was a one-man wrecking crew for Madison Highland Prep as he dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. Roy Chavez was another key player, putting up ten points along with six assists and five boards.

Round Valley's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Madison Highland Prep, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Round Valley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 59-39 defeat against Pima on the 7th. As for Madison Highland Prep, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, an 85-59 victory against Trivium Prep on the 6th.
