Softball Recap: Wink Comes Up Short

Wink extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 9-9 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 11-10 heartbreaker at the hands of the Christoval Cougars. Even if the Wildcats couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Brelynn Bowden made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Mia Ruiz was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

As for Christoval, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-4. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games.

On Christoval's side, Morgan Ransom was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylie Hunt, who went 2-for-5 with three runs and one double.

While Wink had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled on Saturday.
