Football Game Preview: Plateau Valley Cowboys vs. Haxtun Fightin' Bulldogs

The Plateau Valley Cowboys will face off against the Haxtun Fightin' Bulldogs at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Plateau Valley's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Soroco 63-0. The Cowboys have beaten the Rams the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Rams has come to flipping the script.

Meanwhile, Haxtun faced Sedgwick County in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Fightin' Bulldogs claimed a resounding 52-8 win over the Cougars. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 46-8.

Plateau Valley better keep an eye on Zach Statz. He was instrumental in Haxtun's win, rushing for 145 yards and three TDs while picking up 9.1 yards per carry. That's the most rushing touchdowns Statz has posted since back in September. Chase Goddard was in the mix too, providing Haxtun with one touchdown.

Plateau Valley's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Haxtun, their win bumped their record up to 8-1.
