Hayfork comes up short despite Daniel Kasper's dominant performance

Recap: Hayfork Timberjacks vs. Ferndale Wildcats

If the Hayfork Timberjacks were feeling good off their 72-36 takedown of the Tulelake Honkers last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Hayfork was outmatched by Ferndale on the road and fell 65-31. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Hayfork has suffered since December 8, 2023.

Despite the loss, Hayfork still got an impressive performance from Daniel Kasper, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Kasper grabbed two or more steals.

Ferndale found their leader in underclassman Prescott Langer, who scored 18 points. Langer continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Thomas Fergison was another key contributor, scoring ten points.

Hayfork has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season. As for Ferndale, their victory bumped their record up to 4-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hayfork won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Butte Valley at 7:00 p.m. on January 10th. Butte Valley is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Ferndale, they will be playing at home against South Fork at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. South Fork presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Ferndale in California (South Fork is ranked 456th, while Ferndale is ranked 1091st).
