Basketball Game Preview: Suring Eagles vs. Gillett Tigers

Suring is 1-9 against Gillett since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Suring Eagles will host the Gillett Tigers at 7:15 p.m. Gillett took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Suring, who comes in off a win.

Last Tuesday, Suring beat Rosholt 61-51.

Meanwhile, Gillett entered their matchup against Coleman on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Gillett opened the new year with a less-than-successful 47-40 defeat to Coleman. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Tigers came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while the Cougars are ranked 241st).

Gillett's loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-2. As for Suring, the win got them back to even at 4-4.

Suring came up short against Gillett when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 48-37. Can Suring avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
