Volleyball Recap: Robert C. Byrd's Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

Robert C. Byrd had to endure a five-match losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past the Doddridge County Bulldogs 3-0 on Thursday. The Eagles not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since August 26th (when they won 3-0).

Robert C. Byrd never let Doddridge County on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-11, 26-24.

Robert C. Byrd's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Morgan Hawkins led the charge by getting four blocks and four aces. That's the most blocks Hawkins has posted since back in September of 2024. Another player making a difference was Madelyn McGill, who had seven kills, four aces, and one block.

Robert C. Byrd's victory bumped their record up to 11-15. As for Doddridge County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-20.

Coming up, Robert C. Byrd will challenge Elkins at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Doddridge County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
