Baseball Game Preview: Little River Academy Bumblebees vs. McCallum Knights

The Little River Academy Bumblebees will face off against the McCallum Knights at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Little River Academy is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

Little River Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Ellison with a sharp 14-1 win on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Little River Academy got a great performance from Slade Schwake as he didn't allow a single hit, allowed only an earned run while striking out six over 4.2 innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Cylar Fuentes was a standout: he scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. He has become a key player for Little River Academy: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 0-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaleb Quilty, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Little River Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive games.

Meanwhile, McCallum posted their closest win since March 9, 2024 on Friday. They had just enough and edged out University 4-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Knights.

Little River Academy's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for McCallum, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.
