It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Chavez had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 12-4 margin over the McLane Highlanders. The win was familiar territory for Chavez who now have three in a row.
Madyson Herrera spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive pitching appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Alexis Elizondo, who went 4-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Robles, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.
Chavez's victory bumped their record up to 13-14-1. As for McLane, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 12-11.
