Softball Game Preview: Ray Ray Jays vs. Watford City Wolves

The Ray Ray Jays will venture away from home to square off against the Watford City Wolves at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Ray is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.

Ray proved they can win big on Monday (they won by 18) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Carrington 3-2.

Brinlee Cancade made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Meanwhile, Watford City didn't have quite enough to beat Sidney on Friday and fell 9-8. The loss continues a trend for the Wolves in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost four in a row.

Ray's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Watford City, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Ray beat Watford City 4-1 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Ray Jays since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
