Baseball Recap: Briar Woods Takes a Loss

If Briar Woods was riding high fresh off their 14-4 takedown of Tuscarora last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Briar Woods fell just short of the Herndon Hornets by a score of 11-9 on Friday.

Briar Woods' loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-1. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 2.6 runs. Herndon has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Briar Woods will head out to take on Brentsville District at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Herndon, they are packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will face off against Langley at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The contest will give Herndon their first taste of in-conference action this season.
