Softball Recap: Mason County Central Finds Home Field Redemption Against Pentwater

There's no place like home for Mason County Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Pentwater Falcons with a sharp 17-2 win on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Aubrey Chye made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Chye was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last eight games.

In other batting news, Ellie Bendele was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and one double. That's the most runs she has posted over her last eight contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Cory, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Mason County Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The victory snapped Mason County Central's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-16 record. As for Pentwater, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11.

Coming up, Mason County Central will challenge Reed City at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Pentwater will be paying especially close attention to the Spartans' matchup: after the Spartans face off against the Coyotes, they'll take on Pentwater again at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
