Softball Recap: Homer Gets the Win

Homer won the last time they faced Michigan Center and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Trojans came out on top against the Cardinals by a score of 7-4.

Payten Minix was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brooklen Minix, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Lillian Stemaly, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Homer now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Michigan Center, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-11.

Looking ahead, Homer will be playing at home against Bath at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Michigan Center, they will head out on the road to square off against Northwest at 12:00 p.m. on the 30th.
