Football Game Preview: Pennsauken Indians vs. Eastside Tigers

The Pennsauken Indians are taking a road trip to square off against the Eastside Tigers at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Pennsauken will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.

Pennsauken is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They walked away with a 35-28 victory over Eastern on Saturday.

Pennsauken's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Randall Blount led the charge by rushing for 177 yards and one score while picking up 8.0 yards per carry, and also picking up 48 receiving yards. Blount's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 109 rushing yards. Nazyr Negron was another key passer, throwing for 184 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 passes.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Pennsauken was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 208 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 163 rushing yards in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Eastside took a blow against Kingsway on Thursday, falling 45-6. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey football rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while the Dragons are ranked 20th).

Pennsauken pushed their record up to 4-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 13.8 points on average this season. As for Eastside, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.

Pennsauken didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Eastside when the teams last played back in October of 2024, but they still walked away with a 13-8 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
