Softball Recap: Chippewa Valley Big Reds vs. Romeo Bulldogs
Chippewa Valley had lost three straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 10-17 to make it four. They fell 5-0 to the Romeo Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-2 back in April.
As for Romeo, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.9 runs over those games.
For Romeo's part, Chippewa Valley's batters probably weren't too happy with Katie Murphy, who pitched a no hitter (she gave up zero walks). Murphy has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Jess McLeod and Helena Murphy did most of the damage at the plate: McLeod went 3-for-4 with two runs, while Helena went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Maegan Myers, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
As of now, neither Chippewa Valley nor Romeo have any future games scheduled.
