The Blanchester Wildcats's six-game losing streak came to an end on Saturday. They walked away with a 49-40 victory over New Richmond. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Blanchester has managed all season.
New Richmond's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sydney Miller, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Miller is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kiera Kirk, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds and four steals.
Even though they lost, New Richmond smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 28 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Blanchester's win ended a 13-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-12. As for New Richmond, their defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 3-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Blanchester will take on Georgetown at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Georgetown focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 last Thursday. As for New Richmond, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Wyoming at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th. Wyoming presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than New Richmond in Ohio (Wyoming is ranked 235th, while New Richmond is ranked 633rd).
