Basketball Recap: Atlantic Christian's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Saturday

Atlantic Christian dropped down to 5-2 on Saturday, ending the team's five-game streak of wins. They took a 62-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Delaware County Christian Knights. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cougars of the 73-51 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2024.

Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ethan Costello, who shot 46% from the field to rack up 17 points along with seven assists and five boards. Costello's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Carson Costello, who went 7-for-17 en route to 19 points and five rebounds.

As for Delaware County Christian, their victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.6 points over those games.

Delaware County Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Carter Dill led the charge by putting up 12 points and three blocks. Those 12 points gave Dill a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nat Barnes, who shot 70% from the field on his way to 16 points.

Atlantic Christian has already played their next matchup (against Wildwood Catholic), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Delaware County Christian will take on Renaissance Academy in a holiday battle at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Delaware County Christian will be up against Renaissance Academy's rather soft defense (which has allowed 62.6 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
