Basketball Recap: Box Elder Takes a Loss

Box Elder was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They took a 53-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Roy Royals. The Bees were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Royals apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Box Elder lost, don't look at Emma Nelson. Despite the final result, she posted 22 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Nelson a new career-high in points.

Jerzee Hart had a dynamite game for Roy, almost dropping a triple-double on 15 points, 19 boards, and nine blocks. Iva Hunt was another key player, putting up a point along with five assists, five rebounds, and five steals.

Box Elder's defeat dropped their record down to 1-15. As for Roy, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-10.

Box Elder will square off against Bountiful at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Bountiful will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Box Elder surely won't give up without a fight. As for Roy, they will take on Viewmont at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Viewmont is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.9 points per game this season.
