Recap: Cardinal Newman Cardinals vs. First Baptist School Hurricanes

It was a good run, but the Cardinal Newman Cardinals unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They received a tough blow as they fell 55-39 to First Baptist School. Cardinal Newman was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hurricanes apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.

Cardinal Newman lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Josiah Peeples, who scored ten points along with five rebounds. Evan Carter was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds.

Cardinal Newman's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-14. As for First Baptist School, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-10.

Cardinal Newman will be playing in front of their home fans against the Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in South Carolina (Ben Lippen is ranked 90th, while the Cardinals are ranked 66th). First Baptist School will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on the Cyclones at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
