Softball Recap: Childress Victorious

Childress's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Tulia Hornets an 18-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Bobcats, who have now won nine contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Ansley Parr made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 22 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Journey Prince, who went 3-for-4 with two triples, five RBI, and three runs. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Aubrey Douglas was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

Childress kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Childress' victory bumped their record up to 13-11-1. As for Tulia, they dropped their record down to 1-20 with the defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road.
