Basketball Game Preview: Crawford Colts vs. Kearny Komets

Crawford and Kearny are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. Having just played yesterday, the Crawford Colts will head out on the road to face off against the Kearny Komets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

Crawford is headed into the match having just posted their closest victory since November 22, 2024 on Thursday. They skirted past Rock Academy 2-0. Given the Colts' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 443rd, while the Warriors are ranked 1278th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Kearny took their contest on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 74-13 win over Logan Memorial Education Campus. The Komets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 21 points or more this season.

Kearny has also been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.4 points per game. As for Crawford, they pushed their record up to 14-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Everything came up roses for Crawford against Kearny in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 73-41 win. Will Crawford repeat their success, or does Kearny have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
