Baseball Recap: Thursday's Defeat Ends Floyd Central's Winning Streak

Floyd Central dropped their record down to 19-13 on Thursday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They lost 11-0 to the Belfry Pirates. The game marked the first time this year in which the Jaguars were not able to get on the board.

As for Belfry, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

For Belfry's part, Dante Davis was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Davis has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one triple and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Zachary Fite was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was David Michael Hagy, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Floyd Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Belfry, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 12-2 loss against Pike County Central on the 21st.
