Grainger had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They had just enough and edged out the Cocke County Fighting Cocks 3-2. For the Grizzlies, this counts as revenge for the 3-1 win the Fighting Cocks walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2019.

Grainger had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 24-26, 22-25, 25-23, 25-23, 15-11.

When it comes to explaining why Cocke County lost, don't look at Meredith Grooms. Despite the final result, she had ten digs.

Grainger has already played their next contest (against Hancock County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Cocke County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-2 loss against King's Academy on the 19th.
