Schroon Lake will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Wells on Thursday. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 22-2 margin over the Wells CSD. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Wildcats' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Julian Porcaro was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Porcaro was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. Those RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season.
In other batting news, Schroon Lake got a massive performance out of Jayce Emmert, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those runs were Emmert's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Camden Lamphear, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
Schroon Lake always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .674. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Johnsburg Central fell victim to Bolton Central and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles.
Johnsburg Central's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2-1. As for Schroon Lake, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-3.
