Recap: Roosevelt Roughriders vs. New Town
The Roosevelt Roughriders's game last Wednesday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They snuck past New Town with a 67-61 win. Given Roosevelt's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked ninth in District of Columbia, while New Town is ranked 148th in Maryland), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Roosevelt's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gabriel Hudgens led the charge by scoring 17 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hudgens has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Sean Hall, who scored 14 points.
Roosevelt has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for New Town, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-10.
Roosevelt will be staying on the road on Sunday to face off against Woodland Hills at 2:30 p.m. on January 14th. As for New Town, they will be playing at home against Patapsco at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
