Softball Recap: Palisades Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Palisades came out on top against Marietta on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run first inning. The Pumas took their match against the Tigers 8-5. The win was familiar territory for the Pumas, who have now won three games in a row.

Zahria Montgomery spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Janiya Johnson, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Mariah Rushin, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.

Palisades' victory bumped their record up to 9-11. As for Marietta, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Palisades wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 13-2 loss against Lakewood on the 17th. As for Marietta, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Fort Frye at 5:00 p.m. on the 28th.
