Softball Recap: Mcdowell Makes It Nine in a Row at Home

While McDowell's victory against General McLane wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Trojans sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 win over the Lancers on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Lancers: they've now won five in a row.

Gabriella Deluca made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 19 over seven innings pitched. Those 19 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

McDowell pushed their record up to 16-2 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for General McLane, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-12-1 record this season.

McDowell will square off against Erie at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for General McLane, they will face off against Girard at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
