Baseball Recap: Alcorn Central Comes Up Short

Alcorn Central extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 13-11. They came up short against the Kossuth Aggies, falling 13-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Aggies this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-2 on Tuesday.

Alcorn Central saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Miller, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was Miller's first of the season.

As for Kossuth, they pushed their record up to 18-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Considering they have won ten matchups by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

On Kossuth's side, Evan Killough was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Killough has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Kossuth got a massive performance out of Ethan Killough, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave Killough a new career-high. Kipptyn Briggs was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Looking ahead, Alcorn Central will take on Biggersville at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Golden Bears' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lions have averaged an impressive 10 runs per game this season. As for Kossuth, they will head out to square off against Mooreville at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Aggies 2.9, the Troopers 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
