Softball Game Preview: Mountain View Toros vs. Red Mountain Mountain Lions

Mountain View hasn't had much luck against Red Mountain recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Toros will take on the Mountain Lions. Neither Mountain View nor Red Mountain posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

On Saturday, Mountain View didn't have quite enough to beat Tucson High Magnet School and fell 3-2.

Daniella Gloria was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out seven batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Dylan Davis was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Kylynn Sylvester, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Meanwhile, Red Mountain faced Highland in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Mountain Lions fell just short of the Hawks by a score of 3-2. The Mountain Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mountain View's defeat dropped their record down to 22-12. As for Red Mountain, their loss dropped their record down to 19-6-1.

Mountain View suffered a grim 12-2 defeat to Red Mountain in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Toros avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
