Basketball Recap: Bryn Gillespie Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Wallace County

After losing to Wallace County the last time they met, Quinter decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Quinter Bulldogs narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Wallace County Wildcats 51-49. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Bulldogs' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 37th, while the Wildcats are ranked fifth).

Quinter's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bryn Gillespie, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. That's the most boards Gillespie has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Braelyn Blackwill, who posted 16 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Quinter is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. As for Wallace County, the defeat snapped their winning streak at ten games dating back to last season and leaves them with a 9-1 record.

Quinter will host Dighton on Tuesday. Quinter is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.1 points per game this season. Wallace County has already played their next game (against St. Francis), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
