League recap: Langan throws longest pass in league this season for St. John

9-Man Region 3 (9 Man) recap October 1, 2013

Kiefer Langan and Andrew Hanretty provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Parshall/White Shield. The connection went for 91 yards, the longest such play in 9-Man Region 3 (9 Man) this season.

Towner-Granville-Upham added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Westhope/Newburg/Glenburn, 40-18. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Titans.

Hunter Braaten was a passing and rushing force as the Sioux fell to Towner-Granville-Upham. He completed 14 passes for 187 yards and also ran for 127 yards. Braaten's key target this week was Ethan Miller, who caught 3 passes for 103 yards.

Drake Babineaux was a key player and the best on defense this week as Divide County defeated Dunseith. The 6-foot-0 senior racked up 2.0 sacks.

Miller was the best receiver in the league this week as Westhope/Newburg/Glenburn fell to Scott Thorson's team. Miller tallied 3 receptions for 103 yards. Reese Schell helped Westhope/Newburg/Glenburn's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 48 yards.

St. John's Langan and Hanretty have formed a dream team this season, leading 9-Man Region 3 (9 Man) in both passing and receiving yards. Langan has thrown for 1,108 yards this season, while Hanretty has 12 catches for 449 yards. Drake/Anamoose's Darin McClintock leads the league in rushing yards with 772.

The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between the Woodchucks and the Sioux. St. John enters the game ranked ninth in the state, while Westhope/Newburg/Glenburn ranks 15th.

The Dragons lost to the Maroons 57-12 last week, the largest margin of any game.
