Soccer Game Preview: McHenry vs. Grant Community

The McHenry Warriors will square off against the Grant Community Bulldogs at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Considering both teams were shutout in their prior games, the pair is probably coming into this one with something to prove.

McHenry is likely headed into the contest with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Jacobs on Thursday. The Warriors came up short against the Golden Eagles, falling 4-0.

Meanwhile, Grant Community was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 7-0 to Grayslake North. While losing is never fun, Grant Community can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 259th, while Grayslake North are ranked 105th).

Grant Community's loss dropped their record down to 5-12-1. As for McHenry, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-9-3 record this season.

McHenry was able to grind out a solid victory over Grant Community in their previous meeting back in April of 2021, winning 3-1. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
