Football Recap: Ryan Hagenberg's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Archmere Academy over Lake Forest + How To Watch

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Archmere Academy can now relate to. They fell just short of the Lake Forest Spartans by a score of 38-35 on Saturday. Despite 79 more yards than the Spartans, the Auks couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

Archmere Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Ryan Hagenberg, who rushed for 116 yards and one touchdown on only ten carries, and also picked up 32 receiving yards. Archmere Academy also got help from Mark Mervine, who showed off his sure hands for 121 receiving yards.

Lake Forest got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Andrew White out in front who rushed for 153 yards and one score on only 15 carries. White's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 108 rushing yards. Another back making a difference was Isaiah Wright, who gained 80 total yards.

This is the second loss in a row for Archmere Academy and nudges their season record down to 7-4. As for Lake Forest, their record is now 10-1.

Archmere Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lake Forest, they will challenge Indian River at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Indians' defense has only allowed 10.6 points per game this season, so the Spartans' offense will have their work cut out for them.
