Football Preview: Burges Mustangs vs. Chapin Huskies        
        
		
             The Burges Mustangs will square off against the Chapin Huskies at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. Both  are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
 Burges will roll into the  contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up ten  points  last Friday, then bounced right back against Jefferson  on Friday. Burges breezed by Jefferson on the road  to the tune of  41-12.
 Burges' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but  Marcus Sanchez led the charge by throwing for 238 yards and four touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes. Another player making a difference was  Jayden Bowser, who picked up 140 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
 Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Burges was unstoppable on the ground and  finished the game with 213  rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jefferson only rushed for 93.
 Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Chapin over Andress in every quarter on their way to victory  on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Chapin blew Andress out of the water with  a  54-8 final score. The  match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached  31-0.
 Chapin's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was   Daveon Singleton, who rushed for 146 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries, and also picked up 40 receiving yards. Singleton's longest rush was for an impressive 60 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.  Evan Rivera was another key player, throwing for 278 yards and two touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes.
 The  win  got Burges back to even at 2-2. As for Chapin,  the  victory also got them back to even at 2-2.
 Burges was taken down by Chapin 42-7 in their previous meeting  back in October of 2023. Can Burges avenge their  loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
