Basketball Recap: Woodward Academy Skates Past Chamblee with Ease

Woodward Academy won the last time they faced Chamblee and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Woodward Academy War Eagles took their game with ease, bagging a 72-13 win over the Chamblee Bulldogs. The War Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 24 points or more this season.

Woodward Academy was led to victory by Z Williams and Lauryn Dennis-Cooper. Williams went 10 of 13 en route to 23 points and three steals, while Dennis-Cooper dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. Dennis-Cooper is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 13 games she's played. Delaney Cooper was another key player, putting up five points in addition to six boards and five steals.

Woodward Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 33 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since the start of last season.

The victory (which was Woodward Academy's third in a row) raised their record to 10-5. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 18.3 points per game. As for Chamblee, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.

Woodward Academy will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Lakeside at 6:00 p.m. Woodward Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.7 points per game this season. As for Chamblee, they are taking a road trip to take on Dunwoody at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Chamblee is facing Dunwoody at the right time seeing as Dunwoody is stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
