Basketball Recap: Victor Gutierrez Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Emmett

Vallivue won the last time they faced Emmett and things went their way on Friday too. The Vallivue Falcons came out on top against the Emmett Huskies by a score of 60-50.

Vallivue's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Victor Gutierrez led the charge by putting up 16 points and seven boards. Those seven rebounds gave Gutierrez a new career-high. Xander Wilson was another key player, going 5 for 12 on his way to 11 points along with five boards and four steals.

Vallivue's win bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Emmett, they dropped their record down to 2-14 with the loss, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Vallivue will host Middleton at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Vallivue knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Middleton likes a good challenge. As for Emmett, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 62-52 defeat against Caldwell on the 8th.
