Riverview Sarasota came into Monday's game looking for another win against Manatee, but Keith Fields wouldn't allow it. The Manatee Hurricanes snuck past the Riverview Sarasota Rams with a 61-56 win on Monday thanks in part to Fields, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 15 points along with seven boards and four steals. The matchup was his sixth in a row with at least ten points.
The team also got some help courtesy of Joe Davis, who posted seven points and eight rebounds. He is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games.
Several Rams players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Rhys Gamble, who made all 8 shots he took to post 19 points. Cole Coggin was another key player, going 5 of 6 on his way to 11 points.
The victory made it two in a row for Manatee and bumps their season record up to 8-6. As for Riverview Sarasota, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Manatee will venture away from home to face off against Parrish Community at 7:30 p.m. on January 7th. Manatee knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten contests -- so hopefully Parrish Community likes a good challenge. As for Riverview Sarasota, they will head out to challenge Venice at 7:00 p.m. on January 7th. Riverview Sarasota is facing Venice at the right time seeing as Venice is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
