Recap: Cornerstone Charter Cardinals vs. Leadership Academy Falcons

The Cornerstone Charter Cardinals's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Leadership Academy, falling 60-27. Cornerstone Charter was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-9.

Several Cardinals players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kaylen Williamson, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 44.4% of Cornerstone Charter's points, marking the 12th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Maloree Walthaw, who scored four points along with six steals.

Among those leading the charge was Ali Faenza, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds and four steals. She hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. Brooke Swigert was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with three steals.

Cornerstone Charter's defeat dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Leadership Academy, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cornerstone Charter will take on Bishop McGuinness at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Leadership Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Piedmont Classical at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Piedmont Classical focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Tuesday.
