The Freedom Patriots will head out on the road to challenge the Watauga Pioneers at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Freedom posted their closest win since November 21, 2023 on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Hibriten and snuck past 60-57.
Meanwhile, Watauga came tearing into Friday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15 points) and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against Ashe County as Watauga made off with a 67-43 victory. Watauga pushed the score to 57-31 by the end of the third, a deficit Ashe County cut but never quite recovered from.
Jackson Pryor continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, almost dropping a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Kohout, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
The victory got Freedom back to even at 12-12. As for Watauga, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season.
